Privacy Policy

Your files stay with you.

This policy explains what Leaf PDF does — and does not do — with your documents, permissions and data. It applies to the Leaf PDF Android application and to this page.

App: Leaf PDF (com.kakapo.leafpdf) Version 1.2.0 Effective: 24 September 2026
The short version

Documents are processed on your device. Leaf PDF requires no account, and does not collect, sell or share your personal information. Files leave the app only when you choose to share, export or print them.

01Scope and updates

This policy applies to the Leaf PDF Android application (package name com.kakapo.leafpdf, current version 1.2.0) and to this page. It is effective from 24 September 2026. When our data practices change, we update this page and its version date.

02What we process — and where

Leaf PDF does not operate any server that stores your documents. Everything below is read, created and kept locally on your device:

  • Documents you open or import (PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and images): read and displayed on your device.
  • Annotations you add (ink, text, signatures): stored locally and written back only into the PDF file you choose to save.
  • Scans, image-to-PDF drafts and ID or passport photos: processed on this device and kept in the app's private storage; every PDF you export is a local file, you decide what to keep, and these images are never uploaded to us or anyone else.
  • Cache cleaner results: the cleaner scans only this app's own cache and shows each item on screen for review; deletion applies only to the files you select.
None of this is uploaded to our servers automatically — we do not have such servers. Files are handed to other apps through Android only when you choose to act.

03Permissions

Every permission is optional, is requested only when a feature needs it, and can be revoked at any time in system settings.

PhotosOn demand

Pictures are chosen through the Android photo picker, so Leaf PDF does not request broad photo or storage access. Open documents are handed in through Android's file picker.

NotificationsOptional

The quick-access shortcut card is posted only while you open the app and can be turned off at any time in system or app settings.

Network & network stateOptional

Used by feature components such as the Google ML Kit scanner download; everyday features work fully offline.

CameraHandled by ML Kit

The scanning UI is provided by the ML Kit document scanner in Google Play services. Leaf PDF itself does not request or access the camera.

App cache onlyCleaner

The cleaner inspects this app's own cache directories only. It does not scan Downloads, shared storage or other apps' data.

No trackingBy design

Leaf PDF includes no advertising, attribution or analytics SDK, and no advertising ID permission.

04Third-party components

  • Google ML Kit document scanner (on-device): provides scanning. Its component may download from Google Play services on first use; related processing follows Google's terms and privacy policy.
  • AndroidX and Android platform libraries: used for UI, file sharing (FileProvider), the home screen widget and local notifications.

Third-party components are included only to provide the features described above. If a future version introduces new services with different data practices, this policy will be updated before those features are enabled.

05Sharing and selling

We do not sell, rent or share your data. Files leave the app only when you share, export or print them, and Android passes them to the target app you pick. The cleaner deletes only the files you confirm; unknown, damaged or changed files are kept.

06Retention and deletion

  • Private app data (cache, drafts, settings, bookmarks, favorites): removed when you uninstall the app.
  • Files exported to shared storage: uninstalling does not remove them; manage them in your file manager.
  • Cleaner results: used only to show the current session and not retained long term.

Because we cannot access your documents, we cannot remotely delete or recover them — the data never leaves your device.

07Children

Leaf PDF is a general-purpose tool, is not directed to children, and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information to us through the app, contact us and we will address it promptly.

08Your choices

  • Grant or revoke permissions anytime in system settings; every permission is optional.
  • Turn the quick-access notification off in system or app settings.
  • Review file details and choose item by item before cleaning.
  • Choose the interface language, and decide whether to make Leaf PDF your default PDF app.

09Changes

If this policy changes materially, we update this page and its effective date, and note the change in the app. New features with new data practices are only enabled after this policy is updated. Continuing to use the app means you accept the updated policy.
